Heya all.

Can you breed from birds with crossed or overgrown beaks? I have had the 2 birds I am talking about for over 6 months and they have only just now shown the problem. One is an Emblema and one an Orange breast. Only one out of each pair is presenting with the problem. I have trimmed both beaks. Thanks.

I think you will find the damage is caused by mites, they enter through the nostrils and borrow into the tissues causing deformed growth of the bill.Once this damage is done there is little you can do.
Imo they need to be culled, not bred from and all your other birds need to be treated with a coarse Moxidectin. Craig
