I read somewhere that dock leaves are a nice treat for finches, I tried them and my Cubans, parrots and stars loved them, as I picked some today I noticed it has gone to seed, could I pick a seed head and give that to them aswell?. Currently my finches get a selections of grasses and flowers (dandelion and clover flowers) shredded carrot and silverbeet and broccoli heads for their greens.

Hi lacosa.
There are a couple of different kinds of dock around. All are fine to feed but a lot of birds don't bother with them. I found the bigger parrots love them but the small birds I have currently don't bother too much. Quail will also eat them.
