Hi Brendan,
Kingston's books are the general favourites, the green one, 'keeping and breeding finches and softbills', in particular - hard to find, but worth it's weight in gold. His smaller book, in print from Australian Birdkeeper, 'A guide to Australian Finches', is another good one. If you're able to afford it, Shepard, Pridham and Forshaw's newish book 'Australian Grassfinches' is one of the best titles around. The Just Finches and Softbills magazine, Australian Birdkeeper and Australian Aviary Life are all good periodicals, as are the newsletters of finch clubs. There's a wide range of books on Finches out there.
Hope that helps a bit :)

Another book by Russell Kingston is 'The Finch—A Breeder's Companion'. This book is currently available through ABK for $132.00. It's a really good book - well worth the money.

ABK also has another book titled 'Suitable Housing for Finches and Softbills' by Paul *censored* - $39.95.
