Sorry Newbie question.. What does it mean when the head of a normal gouldian cock is turning black from red ? I also have a white breasted doing the same ?

Hi BS,i believe black is dominant so they maybe heading :) that way,Nah Are they getting plenty of natural sunlight? Craig

Not much direct sunlight at the moment, no. They are under the pergola in a temporary aviary. They still get light, but not direct.

Could be a Red-headed bird which previously had induced melanism from adverse captive conditions & may be emerging from it as conditions/diet improves??

Tiaris, if I'm reading it correctly it's the other way around- a red head turning black, not a black head turning red.
