Dirty vent? what did you do to fix this? I think she needs to stay in hospital cage till you get that sorted...holtz wrote:Hi all,

What you say brings back bad memories for me with the same bird specie, and a hen as well.I placed her in a hot box many times and medicated for as many things i could think of for a few weeks of in an out of the aviary.vettepilot_6 wrote:Dirty vent? what did you do to fix this? The bird eventually died and 2 weeks later i nearly did in hospital for two weeks with psittacosis.
Always wash your hands after handling sick birds and take a dropping sample to your Vet for a diagnosis. After that near death experience i always keep a supply of Doxycycline in the fridge to dose any really ill bird with first and wash my hands after handling all my birds sick or not. Craig
Forgot to mention, wear dust masks when cleaning out your aviaries as this decease can become airborn in the dust.
