Well that puts me way out of contention. 40mm of rain in the average month at least? That would be a wet month here. Like once in 10 years maybe we could get a run of more that 3 months to meet that.

Wow, Nathan, that's amazing.
Thank you so much.

I'm currently looking into putting solar cells onto the birdhouse to feed a sprinkler system, to water the plants and improve humidity. I have found that a period of increased humidity triggers my tropical birds to court and nest (BFPFs, stars, tricolor PFs), and for the warmer 9 months of the year soil moisture is the growth-limiting factor for grasses, so they do much better a bit wetter.
It'll take a while to build them a shelter and save up the necessary coin, but I'm keen to give them a go.

BlueBudgie: that is awesome, and I would love to know who I can get some from in NSW.
It'll take a while, but I'll PM you when I am ready to get some if that's okay.

This forum is awesome. Thank you all.
Avid amateur aviculturalist; I keep mostly australian and foreign finches.

Did you ever end up getting a pair of these birds?

Has anyone else decided to give them a go recently?

Was just looking through the species profile and thought I would ask.

Im also interested in how people are going with these birds.
I was rather surprised to see canberra as the ideal climate got them...
