Hi all
I decided to delve into red zebs after looking for them for so long.
The birds I got a the rejects of some very nice full fronted reds so I am hoping to develop some nice reds from these. They are big birds with a lot or red right through them (will post some pics later).
Can anyone direct me to some articles on the genetics?
I have a base understanding when it comes to zebs but all the sites I have been looking at just take me to genetic calculators or very thin articles.
From what I understand I can enhance the red colouring through the feathers by crossing them to black fronted.

yup,
I have opted for some species such as zebs, budgies and continuing with my goulds asI want to try and line breed specific mutations/qualities.
I guess I am developing my husbandry skills.
I will have to hit Ross up for some champion advice.

Steve, the Red takes over the black areas that's why people put Reds to Charcoals, Black Bodied and Black Fronted etc as they have the most black to cover. I have bred Full Red Breasted Fawn Charcoals in which the bird was completely Red so you don't need blacks for it to succeed. I believe in WA a guy is producing Full Red constantly in his Reds.
