... and mine did the same. All of a sudden, they just seemed to lose interest in the whole parenting thing (it took me at least 14 years to get over that, personally!)

That's disappointing Rod, (the birds losing interest ... not you)

When the parents stop brooding the chicks seems to be a critical time.
Hopefully they will be better prepared next time
