I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to parrots but I thought this was worth sharing. I was walking through my local reserve the other day and noticed a pink cockatoo as shown in this image. Is this a common mutation found in aviaries and it has most likely been released? Or is it a natural mutation. It could even be a hybrid between a cockatoo x galah or cockatoo x major mitchell if that is possible. What is everyones thoughts?

I would hazard a guess that someone was trying to THIEF someone out of his hard dollars, but then again I am an old cynic and know nothing about parrots.
So it could easily be sold to me as gorgeous bird. If I liked parrots, which I don't.

It certainly looks pretty. But a natural colour? I think not.

Yes a very pretty shade of pink, but I bet that colour is like putting a target on the poor birds back if a predator spots it.

White cockies are pretty tough hombres . .

Although I wouldn't be too sure of the ones that dress in pink :sweatdrop:

I think the one you saw is maybe a singe factor fluorescent. Here's a video of some double factor fluorescents...
