I was down to my last pair of goldwings. They were on eggs and then this morning I find the hen dead on the ground. I'd been watching them only yesterday so she had not been ill. No sign of egg binding either - maybe night fright I guess. I used to really love this species but they may have beaten me. Anyway s%^t happens.
The cock is still sitting - anyone ever had a cock pytilia of any species raise young alone?
Do you think the cock will continue incubation?

Cannot speak specifically about pytilias but on the rare occasions I have lost a parent with eggs the other parent normally abandons the nest. Even with live young they tend to abandon the nest. Thats one of the sad things about keeping birds.
