Hi Guys,
My RCCB pair keep playing tricks on me.... They have once again fooled me into thinking that they're sitting on eggs. This is about the fourth time this has happened since purchasing them, they go through the whole process of courtship, mating, nest building and then alternate the sitting process... that is hen goes in male comes out, male goes in hen comes out... only problem is there's no eggs! Why do they do this? Has any one experienced this before? It's doing my head in!
Cheers.

Cordons are evil.
Just keep working to improve their housing and diet and eventually they will come through for you. Mine took almost two years before I got the first clutch.

Live food, maggots/mealworms, a quiet area with plenty of brush.
I have them in 3 aviaries, all breed but some better than others. The larger more secluded aviary does best.
Cheers Greg.

Thanks Greg, All my birds get meal worms twice a day Ive never given maggots, they also get leb cucumber, sprouted seed, silver beet, egg... The aviery is about 2700x1000x1900 and is mixed with pairs of double bars, stars (won't breed either) red brows, orange breasts, painteds, ruddies, bengalese. I have a couple of pot plants which they have destroyed and reduced to sticks so there's not plenty of brush.... so I understand why they're not breeding the other species probably aren't helping but what I just can't understand is why they behave like they are sitting when there's nothing to sit on? I've seen them mate often! what happens to the eggs they're not in the nest?? Just doesn't make sense!!Greg/Pauline wrote:Live food, maggots/mealworms, a quiet area with plenty of brush.
