Hi
I had a hen sitting on 3 eggs, father was swirling and ended up in the water bowl. all eggs hatched, green, yellow and grey back. Hen raised them, but the grey one weak compared to the others, about a week out the nest the mother was pairing up with another cock. Every morning I would check for him, no where in sight. he chooses nests with young that are just about to leave the nests and stays towards the front of the box so when the parents come feed, his first to get fed. his about 3 weeks out the nest. anyone else had similar experience. :

New one on me. Maybe he is extra smart and realises that he needs feeding a bit longer? Or greedy and intends to be the biggest baddest Gouldian ever?

Agree AMCA,and has possibly got the early signs of the dreaded blue syndrome that has been bred out in last few years by others. Craig

That's fine iaos, then why wouldn't he say young blue as young blues have grey backs. Craig
