Hi finchbird the lowest that I can recall was -8 a couple of years back this sticks in mind because we had three nights before that at-5 and I had four clutches of Gouldians at different ages in nests and did not lose any.finchbird2015 wrote:Yep winter is here alright -4 today over here at 8am, no snow just hard frosts. At least after a cold frost you get a nice sunny day for the birds which perks the birds up. I do know of some people down south in central Otago that have had a -15 deg frost yikes!! at that temp some poor birds are getting there feet stuck on the aviary wire because of the such cold temps.
What temps does Canberra get down to?
Our average minuses seem to average between -4 and -2 our lowest this winter is -7 (but only tolled this as I was in hospital at the time) today I think we had -1 and a top of 8 but the good news is the sun is out with
little cloud this should bring the temp in the aviarys up to around 14 and thats what I relie on the sun shine heating up the aviarys .cheers
