Hi finchbird the lowest that I can recall was -8 a couple of years back this sticks in mind because we had three nights before that at-5 and I had four clutches of Gouldians at different ages in nests and did not lose any.
Our average minuses seem to average between -4 and -2 our lowest this winter is -7 (but only tolled this as I was in hospital at the time) today I think we had -1 and a top of 8 but the good news is the sun is out with
little cloud this should bring the temp in the aviarys up to around 14 and thats what I relie on the sun shine heating up the aviarys .cheers

Well, we have to put up with a pretty horrible freezing week in Bathurst while everyone around us had fun in the snow. This time it was our turn. It rarely snows in Bathurst but it did this morning.

This morning, at 4 am, I got woken up by some of the birds outside thrashing around in their aviaries. I thought it may be a cat so I decided to get dressed and go and investigate. I was shocked by what I saw – a layer of at least 3 cm of snow on everything. :clap: The birds got spooked because the shade cloth, protecting them from the hawk that frequents our place, collapsed on to their aviary from the weight of the snow.

Apart from some damaged shade cloth and netting, all the birds appear to be doing well in the big freeze. The birds (parrots) that got spooked all seem to be ok now. :thumbup:

Has it snowed anywhere else where it doesn't usually snow?

Has it snowed anywhere else where it doesn't usually snow?
We got a bit sleet here in Adelaide's North, which is the closest I've seen to snow in the 19 years I've lived here.

Birds are coping quite well. Lost a RC Cordon hen to egg binding though, unfortunately.

same here, 10 and sunny but strong winds

blinds down, wind blowing on the goulds and they are living the dream

its funny how they wont sit in the 2m wind protected area, nope they are out in the wind :clap:
