Anyone else heard that coopex is changing to prolong ? I came across a product called prolong made by bayer.I asked the wholesaler about it he said it is replacing coopex.I wonder if he is right.It costs a little over half the price i was paying for coopex.

I only just bought a new packet the other week of Coopex $10.95 at Bunnings. What price did they say for the new one. I did see the other day someone selling the Coopex for $29.95.

$30 for 100 grams.The savings is how much it makes up.I think i worked out its would cost around $7 to make up the same amount as coopex,less if you dilute it more.I am getting one satchell to try for a start.

But is it the same thing? Guess the thing to do is get a satchel of each and compare the active ingredients/quantity in mix.

Well they aren't the same product so I hope Coopex doesn't disappear until Prolong is proven safe for birds. Coopex (Permithrin) and Prolong (Cyfluthrin) are similar chemicals, intended for the same use - class 3A snythetic Pyrethroids with broad range insecticidal activity.
The label information for Coopex (http://www.bayercropscience.com.au/reso ... 0Label.pdf) and Prolong (http://www.bayeranimal.com.au/PDFViewer ... kpYiHWCQ==) indicates that that they are basically non-toxic to vertebrates other than fish and reptiles. I'd try it on the zebs first until it's proven safe - just in case.

I have recently come across the Coopex product and used it for the first time a copule of weeks ago when I noticed a marked increase in small ants..........what a great product it is. It would be a shame to loose it without an equal replacement. I got mine at Bunnings for $10.95 as well, definately value for money.

The only thing I noticed between purchases of Coopex was the change in packet colour. The first pack was blue and white, I was up and down the aisle in Bunnings looking for that, but the pack is now orange and white. $10.95
Looking at the packet of Prolong I can see why Coopex changed the colour, hopefully this means they may keep it going.....I mean why would the company bother changing the colour of the pack if they are going to delete that line?
