Hi,
I am looking for someone to give me advice about Bourke parrot mutations I have searched the web and it appears to be a total mix up when comparing pictures and descriptions. I have had normal Bourke's for over 30 years but recently developed an interest in newer colour forms.

My mother had the pinks for some time. While they are supposed to be reasonably easy to sex. It is surprising how often you will get a "middling" bird that is very hard to sex. That's all I know.

Thanks for that reply from my reading it is a very complicated area there appears to be 2 base colour types cobalt and violet very hard to differentiate in the normal bird but when rose [opaline ] is added the cock in the violet phase has a distinct frontal band where in the cobalt bird it can disappear.
