Sitting outside this arvo having a glass of port and watching my birds when the wild birds sent out their alarm calls. Not sure who got the biggest shock,me,my birds or the Goshhawk who thought it was going to get an easy meal. The wire on the front of my aviary is painted black and you can virtually see right through it into the aviary. This must have tricked the Goshhawk as it slammed into the wire, sending the birds into a panick, especially the young ones.It flew off,but the birds were very quiet after that for the remainder of the arvo.Glad my perches are not close to the wire and i have 1/4 inch wire. Will have to keep an eye out for it in the next few days,as these buggers have a tendency to hang around.Bet it wasn't banking on that wire .

That would have been a sight to see but very stressing for your birds. It was probably an immature hawk looking for an easy feed as you said but i don't think it will come back for a second go though keep an eye out, hold your port in one hand and something else in the other. :problem: Craig
