So i wake up this morning and and im looking out the window at the aviary and i swear i can see a gouldian on the wrong side of the wire, i go out there and count all mine they all there, figure im just seeing things. Was just sitting outside then and what do i see on top of the aviary a RHPBGB Gouldian male. He is relatively friendly lets me get around a meter away from him. I put a seed and water dish on top of the aviary and he has had a eat and a drink.
Anyone got any ideas how i can catch him? im guessing hes someones escapee.

If you have a safety door, put food and water in there and leave it open with a string so you can pull it shut when he is in there, have used this method with some success. :D If you cant do this, a small cage with food and water on top of the avairy and peg the door open, when you approch he should fly up allowing you to close the door with him inside, have also used this method with not quite as much success. If it is very warm you can just give him a shower till he is too wet to fly away, but only if it is very warm and you can dry him out pretty quickly under a light.

No safety door, might try the small cage and if that does not work i will get the hose out.

The shower method is very effective provided he is not too high up in a tree as tumbling down too far can hurt the bird, but I am less inclined to use this on Gouldians because of their lack of down feathers and higher suseptibility to chills. Works very effectively on most birds though.

The Scarlet Pimpernel

Leigh seeks him here,
Leigh seeks him there,
That finchy seeks him everywhere;
Is he in the tree, is he on the roof
The dammed elusive Pimpernel

Still waiting, close a few times. I have a holding box with a string attatched to the door. He's going to get hungry soon and in the box is a nice big tasty spray millet and some seed.

I wonder how far away he has come from :?: You would think it would be from an aviary close by.

Good luck, hope you get him :)
