Red alge is toxic to many birds and other creatures. My water bowls are on auto retic line that is made of copper pipe and comes on twice a day for one min each time. So very regularly flushed, it is only the husks that blow in, the bird poo and the alge that I need to worry about removing, light stuff like feathers and dust are flushed. Interesting article, mostly common sence, but a very good reminder about those things it is easy to overlook.
