At the recent Canberra Bird sale my fell in love with a pair of Gouldians simply called 'Normals'. A little bit of research leads me to believe these were indeed Black Headed White Breasted. Would this be correct :?:
I will most likely get a pair next spring and trial having gouldians in Canberra as from what I remember these birds are around $75 a pair rather than the top end cost of some other varieties.

Can any one confirm all of the above for me :?:

Hi JohnP :)

I think the birds you saw may have been colour mutations, These are normal colour Gouldian's, there are yellow headed, red headed and black headed :)

There are probably better pics of white chested gouldians on the site but this is my BH WC GB male.

Thanks for the feed back. The bird that Diane has the link to is the ones my wife saw. Blacke Headed White Breasted Green Back is my understanding of the BH,WB,GB you quote.

Yes thats right, :D
Black Headed White Chested Green Back= BH WC GB
I have also seen this written as BH WC NB, all the NB means is normal back = green ;)

Hoping to get a few of these with my babies. Both my hen and cock bird that just had young and are sitting again are both split to whitebreast. Apparently according to genetic forecaster my chances are 12.5% Bring erm on i say! They are a truly beautiful birds i rekon.

I can't see why people think they can better a normal gouldian, and decide to spoil them with mutations....

I love the normal Gouldians. And some of the mutaions. Some I think a complete waste of a beautiful bird. But the point is we all have different tastes, so each to his/her own. Keep and breed what you like and forget the others, leave them to those that love them. :D Then we can all be happy.

Yea the whitebreast is pretty much the only mutation that interests me.
