I don't have a planted aviary. What sort of nest box/basket do Parrotfinches breed best in?
Dave

Hi Dave,
I have had great success with them in anything from small finch boxes all the way up to budgee boxes. They also use the larger cane finch nests that you can get at pet shops and fodder stores. I always put plenty of dried grass in the nest beforehand and then give them plenty of emu or white chicken feathers. I'm in Adelaide too and have some birds for sale if you're looking for any. Good luck for the coming breeding season.

Which Parrotfinch species? If Red-faced, they prefer a low nest site (0.5 - 1m). Either bunches of brush or nestboxes/other receptacles. If bred in boxes they will prefer to nest in boxes/if bred in brush will prefer to use brush. Grasses for nest structure & feathers for lining.
