I've had this hen since last July, and her colors are stable. Have never seen a pied like this before. She does not seem to have the white next to her teardrops, her head has black flecks also, and there are some grey/black flecks down her sides and belly a bit, too. Is this just an unusual pied? I'm in the USA, if that makes any difference.

As far as I can tell, we do not have Grizzle here.
Of course, the first Grizzle arose from a spontaneous mutation, so it's possible it could happen again.
Elsewhere, it has been suggested she's blackface, blackbreast, pied. But that's not a normal expression of pied.
Guess I will have to try breeding her to see what happens. From what I found, it is believed Grizzle is recessive. This could take a while.

i agree, grizzle. However i have two birds who show white spots on top of their fore-heads only. not sure what they could be & will post pics asap? they look like normal greys but white areas on top of fore-head, they are not white capped Zebs..

If the bird is gray and only has one or two white feathers on the forehead, it is still a pied. Just a very lightly marked pied. Have had a number of these over the years. Pair with a regular pied and you will get regular pieds.
