Lets hope for an early and heavy "wet".

Amen finchbreeder!
My favourite waterhole has about 2 weeks left before it dries (and its the end of July). It normally lasts to late Oct (in 2017) and late Sept (in 2018).
There is one benefit though. It is so dry further south that there are huge numbers of Pictorellas around further north. They are very nomadic and head north in poor seasons.
I photographed many hundreds this morning. I estimate somewhere between 500-800 Pictorellas and a lesser number of Gouldians. In one flight image I counted 453! That didn't include all the birds!
While the water lasts I'm getting some great images and video.

Hopefully a lot of extra dams will be put in, that can fill when the "wet" comes. Won;t help this year, but those that make it would then have more alternatives next year.

Many thanks Brisbane_Finches_333. Glad you like it.
Finchbreeder - is there any talk of more dams? In any event there are still a large number of pools that never dry. They just have to travel further. I think the food supply (or lack thereof late in the dry) is the critical issue.
I visited my favourite waterhole again this morning and the number of Pictorellas is staggering (plus good numbers of Gouldians, Long-taileds and Masked). Getting some great images for a future book(s).
