3pm today.......I had just logged onto the forum when I got a phone call to tell me a car had gone through my parents house!
When I got to the house there was a Commodore sticking out the bedroom window :o
My Mum and Dad were both alright, thank goodness, they had been in the back of the house.
Fire engines, the SES, Police and Ambulance arrived and soon there was a about 100 people milling around watching. I will get some pics of the car sent to me to post. I only had my phone and I cant get them on the computer.
The SES were fantastic, they sealed the house off from the outside. The insurance company had someone there within a couple of hours boarding up the hole where the window used to be.

Thanks John. It certainly shook then at first but they seem ok now. They made the channel nine news in SA, my Dad was most put out as being described on the news as "an elderly couple" after all as he said "Im only 80"

I dont know who took this, but it appeared on youtube. There a couple of videos to watch.
The little blue car is one that started it all. The driver was taken to hospital, but didnt have any serious injuries according to what we were told. Looking at all the damage he lucky he wasnt killed, or killed someone else.

Driver was a man probably 60-65. Police told us there was a claim of a mechanical fault, so they have seized the car and will be looking at it.

Some of the worst drivers are older people who have got complacent about other traffic.
I like your Dad's thinking Diane, I'm not planning on being elderly until I'm at least 85 either!

Thanks Anthony

Im on my way round there this morning, the assessor is going to be there to work out what needs doing. Hopefully I can get some sort of a time frame from him for the rebuilding of the front.

I just cant believe what has happened to them over the last couple of months. Dad in hospital for the second time after an op, while he was in there Mum's hip dislocated.....again.
Between them and my hubby (also was in hospital) Iv spent quite a bit of time at the local hospital! :?
