Hi, I have 1 black head, white breasted male, and 2 females.
Will he made with both of them or should I get another male..
And if so what male do finch keepers suggest for a black head ,white breasted hen?

Gouldians are non monogamous (meaning that they will only accept 1 mate) so buying another cock would be advised
I would suggest buying a Black head white breasted cock as well, to keep mutation lines proper

Gouldian's as Noah has advised do not do trio's. And sticking to one colour combo is a good idea, but your choice. Enjoy.

Orange or as it is more correctly called yellow headed is recessive. Black headed is sex linked. White breasted is recessive and Purple breasted is dominant. Would depend on if the cock is carrying a recessive gene. Try putting the combinations into this link.

Hi, I think so ... so I think it means if I have a yellow head cock to an black head white breast hen I will get more black headed white breast because black rules over yellow head.
Will I get anything else ?
I guess the problem is I don't really know their genes.
And the other thing with that gouldian link is it asks what chest it is , and I'm thinking it's white , but it could be lilac/white or purple/white in its genes ..so it's hard to calculate it .
And it asks about the body, I can only put its phenotype as in what I see , bcos I don't know if my birds is split to anything..
But I've got a black head white breast hen, and I think I'm going to put a yellow faced yellow body to her and see what I get.

A Yellow head cock bird to a Black head hen will actually give Red head offspring.
Will I get anything else ?
These Red head birds if cock birds will actually be
RH/b/y WB GB
and hens will be
RH/y WB GB
To confuse this further if the hen in the above pairing carries one yellow head gene, (not visible) both Yellow head and Red head offspring are possible.
If the Black head hen has two Yellow head genes it would display a Yellow tipped beak and produce Yellow head offspring.
I guess the problem is I don't really know their genes.

Ok so it seems I am most likely to get red heads, unless the hen carries yellow.
But most likely red heads... which I'm not partial to.
I might contact the breeder and ask him the backgrounds of the birds ... that's a smart thing to do.
I had to read that all like 12 times so it can sink in..lol
