Hi Everyone,

I have not seen my hen gouldian for 3 days. Her and her partner fledged 5 around 10 days ago but I've only been seeing the male. Is this normal, is she off on a new nest? What should I do? I don't really want to tap on the nest box to see if she flies out because the last time I tried, she hit the wall and fell to the ground. Luckily she was OK.

Thanks
Aidan

If she isn't dead on the floor, and hasn't escaped, then she is probably sitting on more eggs.

If she panic flies then put some soft leaf plants opposite the opening of the nest so she flies into the plants instead of the wall.

If you spend some time in the aviary each day, the birds get use to you moving around in there making a noise, and are less likely to panic fly out of a nest if you go near or touch it.

Just keep a keen eye out Aidan, usually they'll swap around incubation roles during the day
