Hi there just wanted to ask, my local produce store is selling clear packaged couch, fescue and rye grass seeds and I’m wondering if these are ok to give to the finches as they are in the bird seed section but my brother in law said He wouldn’t feed it to his birds because they’re normal grass seeds and could be treated ? Does anyone have any thoughts ?
Thanks

If the price is good you could try sprouting some?

If you want to feed seeds of tha type buy greens and grains or contact Qld Finch Society as their services chap handles many of these seeds.
The packets of those seeds should inform you if they are treated

To be honest, those three seeds are not really enjoyed by finches anyway. Grow your own finch mix or supply green seeding grasses, in your area or surrounds there should be panic veldt or Guinea grass and many others that your finches will enjoy.

Australian Wildlife Supplies has many green seeds (bambatsi panic, gatton panic, signal grass), as well as a 'greens 'n' grains' mix. You can buy on their website https://www.wildlifesupplies.com.au/sho ... -supplies/ and Queensland Finch Society members get a discount.
