Misso - maybe someone was wearing a perfume or aftershave that you reacted to - but did not realise at the time because it was subtle?

yes. just bred a halfsider this season. his face is red on one side and yellow on the other he is a very nice bird

If it is male and male, it should in theory be able to breed.

Yes a Gouldian Finch,it wanted to be a male but ,spent a lonely life as the other birds didn't want to communicate with it
