Does anyone know where one can purchase established grass plants that can provide green seed for finches? Maybe Johnson's grass etc.

Do what I did. Talk nice to other bird keepers who live near by and if you are lucky they will dig up a small plant or 2 that you can move to your place.

I was given some Johnson grass by the guy I bought my first gouldians from. I just bought some Guinea grass from a guy at the Tanunda sale yesterday.
Each sale I have been to there has been someone selling cuttings in pots.

If you've got Green Panic grownig nearby, cut it back so there are no leaves on it & the stems are about 4 - 6 inches high, then just dig it out, wack it in a pot and give it a hose.

The Guinea grass Pete mentioned is the go on this side of the country. Think Pete is at the other end of the city to you, but I am way north. So maybe you better talk nice to him.
