Got home from work last week, and the gouldian aviary door has been left open or been opened. Lost a bh/pb/green cock, bh/wb/green hen, rh/wb/df yellow cock and 2 bh/pb/green fledlings. Not sure if I left the door open of the dogs popped the latch, but that's fixed now just glad I didn't lose them all. Not looking forward to replacing those cock birds because in my opinion they were flawless. But there's a bird sale on in the next couple of weeks, so I'll see what's around there.

Dont you just hate that  That awful sinking feeling in the stomach when you see it.
Have you tried leaving a feeding/drinking station outside the aviary? Maybe they might return and you can catch them.
Someone else on the forum caught a stray gouldian that flew into their garden like that.

Sorry to hear it. One of the reasons I like a decent sliding bolt and safety cage. But even that is not infalable cause some sneak gets behind you and follows you out once in a blue moon.

Deb just do what I did when new neighbours moved in, increased the fence height by 2 feet :D
and I get to laugh each time their kids come over asking if they can have their ball back, cos by the time they ask my dogs have already demolished it
have to admit to being a grumpy old bugger when it comes to my property and privacy
