Hi All

Apologies if this has been addressed before - I have a male whose eyes are crusted he lives inside now for the past year with an older hen who just died (from old age).

His eyes have been like this for a while now he doesnt seem to be sick but his eyes are crusting up more so Im worried it will make him blind,

Can anyone advise what medications I can give? and how to treat? I have treated him a while ago with various meds but nothing really fixed it.

thanks in advance Julie

That's not good, you can gently clean the eyes with saline solution then gently dry. A product for human use called chlorsig from the chemist is available non script and works very well on birds as well. It is an antibiotic so clean the eyes twice a day then apply the chlorsig. Good luck 👍

As Craig has said. Products for human eyes are safe for birds eyes. Apparently this is one area in which our genetics are very similar. Have used Murine eye drops on birds safely in the past.
