Hi on and off about 30 years. I have some Turquoise parrots but I'm trying to build up on my finches again. When I first started there were a lot of places where you could buy birds but I have noticed now not a lot of places where you can get them they want an arm and a leg for them.

Welcome to the Forum.
The cost of birds has risen as the space to keep them has decreased.
So the viability of pet shops that sell them has decreased in line with the number of buyers.
And that is Australia wide, because I am on the West Coast and have seen it happening gradually over the past 40yrs.
We need to get back to the good old 1/4 acre, but it won't happen.
