Hi , for yrs I’ve constantly battled ants , they get into the everything. They have even entered the nesting boxes and attacked the new chicks as they are hatching. For yrs i used coopex, and when you think your on top of them back they come. So instead of poisoning them as my main line of defence, i have tried to antproof as much as i can. The live food containers sit in containers of water . The other food trays also sit in trays of water. I noted in one of mike fiddlers videos on his bird aviary he has a moat of water around his whole breeding complex I presume for the same objective. I still use conventional nesting boxes but regularly use surface spray as a a barrier around them. My main preferred breeding setup is the brush cylindrical nest which hangs from the top of the aviary on a length of wire or whipper snipper cord , which I spray with surface spray as well. I hope some of these methods help others who also hate ants. Feel free to add any other methods people use to control these little creatures

I'm like you - Coopex 75% of my block at regular intervals and do a considerable amount of unladylike swearing when they start to get ahead of me.
