Hey guys I currently have 4 Diamond Firetails I don’t know the genders exactly because the person I bought them from didn’t know the issue I’m having is that when I checked the nest there was 2 eggs I checked the next day there was 4 eggs then the day after that 5 eggs I heard finches only lay 1 egg per day but Any way it gets weirder then that the male and the female are taking turns on sitting on the eggs what’s crazy is that at. Night time 3 of the birds go inside the nest how are they allowing the 3rd bird go inside the nest if they are incubating please someone with knowledge regarding this point me in the right direction. Is it possible that my male finch has mated with 2 females that would be the only thing I can think of as to why there was 2 eggs being laid a day and the 3rd bird going inside the nest with them at night time

I have not had Diamonds - so can only answer in part.
Yes finches only lay 1 egg a day, so you have 2 hens laying.
Re the nest sharing, some finches will.

If you have 2 pair they could both be mating and laying.
Or 1 hen could be being mated and one not, but being ready she is laying anyway.
Or - least likely - 1 cock could be mating 2 hens.
How many nests do you have in the avairy? You should always have at least one more nest than you do hen birds.
If you have less than 3 nests this could be the cause of the problem.

Well I have a total of 4 birds and 2 nests I don’t know the gender of my birds that’s why I’m thinking the male is mating with 2 hens

In case you have 2 pair and 1 cock is in breeding condition and 1 is not.
It would be best to add an extra nest.
