Hi there, I’m just wondering what nests work best for most finch species. Im planning to have a mixed finch aviary with zebra finches , gouldian finches, double bar basically what ever go well together. And I’m wanting to know what nests work best for your breeding finches?
Eg. Wooden nesting boxes, cane nests , clay nests...
What nests should I uses?

Cane nests for the zebras, budgie-style nestboxes for the Gouldians. Double-bars don't really care either way—they'll use a nestbox (closed or half-open), a cane nest, or construct their own in some thick brush.

I only have gouldians, but a large selection of nests. I currently have nests with babies in a coconut shell with a hole cut out, square nest box and a cane tall nest. They've never been picky and will take what suits. They have 8 other options but choose those.

A selection is always best.
While some types show preferences for boxes, and some for building their own.
A selection makes sure everyone is catered for.
