Grenadiers are great to watch in full colour. Mine are in a small aviary, 4x4x2.1m, much better if in a huge planted aviary like a friend has. $350 pr is not a bad price. Even if you place a spare cock bird in aviary to watch him fly around and build nests.
Life in Port Macquarie is the ultimate Aussie sea change lifestyle.

ahhh, love it how you call a 4X4m aviary small. I'm getting a 3 x 2.5, thanks SO much, mother.

My 1st real aviary was 3.6m x1.8m x1.8m.
I bred alot of birds in it,after awhile it grew to be 3.6m square and that is where I bred my 1st Grenadier Weavers,Melbas,Cordons etc(no white ants either)
There are many successful bird breeders using small aviaries. It comes down to how good your management is.

I know how you feel Jay. My large avairy is 3.4L x 2W x 1.8H because that is what space will allow. Am going to have to work on replacing the "junk" pergola with an avairy. But as E Orix said, size isn't everything. Great success can be achieved in smaller avairys, with the right care and conditions. Which is why I need to do some culling.

The other point I should make.
It has taken me along time to get where I am now.
You are kilometers ahead of what I was at your age
I was fortunate to have an understanding wife and be able to live where we live now.
Plenty of space and the people around are good and understanding, not that my collection is intrusive at all.
I also have a good friend who backs me when I am away or involved else where.

Supportive family/friends are a great help. Mother and I support each other by looking after birds and fetching new stock.
The wonderful woman has just bought me back a pair of St. Helena's (yellow hen and normal cock) and a trio of Double bars (bicheno to you strange people) And I bird sat while she was away. Does anyone know the genetics of yellow St. Helena's?

Hey E. Orix, did you breed grennies before or after the expansion?
Yeah, Crazy Cuban and I back each other a lot, and at least some of my family is understanding. The rest can be won over by cute zebby fledgelings!!
