Found a nice male emblema to replace the MIA boy today and wasnt even looking , went to the local pet shop for worms for the fish and there he was ....he is mine now that will make the sad little emblema girl happy,

Congrats on the new bird (and don't forget the pics!)
however, that must be tainted by the loss of your last one, so condolences as well

It is a bit disheartening Jay , as nice as it is that the old girl ( 3 year old ) has a new toy boy it is breeding time wasted as the young fella has some maturing to do b4 breeding is possible.
This is her 3rd mate , 2 with me and 1 at breeders which means a lot of good breeding time already has been lost anyhoo that wasnt my main concern I actually wasnt going to bother sourcing another male but she kinda looked lost on her own .
Anyways she has a mate now so what will be will be. Now I need a OB hen b4 spring , this I think will be more of a challenge.

Good luck finding the O/B hen. And cheers to you and the painted hen on getting a toy boy.

So do my morning check on the birds and who should pop her head out of a nest ....the red emblema with a twig of swamp grass in her beak .....THE OLD TART only had her new beau 2 days.

Don't complain. I thought you wanted her to make babies while she was still in her prime.
