For those interested in general ornithology, the new David Attenborough series Life is starring birds this week. It's at 7.30pm, Sunday, ABC.
and also, the Canberra Avicultural Society sale is on the 22nd August, 2 days away. Anyone coming up for the weekend, it's a great show.

I think they would be awesome to have coming into my yard , overseas they put out nectar thingys to attract them to the gardens.

So did anyone watch the documentary? I only saw the last bit, with the bower birds competing for the female's favours by collecting treasures to show off. i thought that was so cool! I knew some birds collect bits to impress but that was a much more concerted effort than I ever imagined!

Yp saw the last bit and gotta love the bower birds , My parents last house had a resident pair and were often see scurrying through the shrubs with Mums blue pegs , always blue .

yeah, Satin bowerbirds (which the males are blue) like blue things. Once stole my cousin's shirt off the washing line!!!
