Have you given them a pre treatment of coxivet or spark to minimise shock.

It's made by Vetafarm, it's an elecrolyte supplement, should be able to get it from the petshop if not try the vets.

I only every use it on newly hatched birds if I need to take them that early, just use it in place of H/R formula for a feed.

Not saying shock was the problem. But if you mix up solution and crop needle a day or so before lifting it will help reduce shock and shock related symptoms. At 4 weeks of age they should have been OK.VR1Ton would probably have a better idea than me.Sorry for your loss

My first thought was a tricky heart , really shouldnt have been shock but who knows what they see when 2 great big hands reach in and lift them out of their nestbox.
Yeah 3 or 4 weeks is usually a good time to pull them out or so I thought .

Wouldn't think so, but you never know. I had a Purple-Crown up and die on me the other day, fully feathered was fine in the evening feed, next morning, dead on the bottom of the box. Had been rearing it for about 3 weeks at that stage, was nearly ready to be weaned, then dead, perectly healthy, apart from the dead bit. There may have been some underlying cogenital problem involved, so it may not have made it if you'd left it in the nest, but without an autopsy you wouldn't know, & for a Quarrion it may not be worth doing, but if it happens again, some consideration should be given.
