hi there,
my name's justin, been out of the finch game for 20 years - used to live out west, had 5 big planted aviaries and have kept and bred most native (diamonds, doublebars, redbrows, longtails, masks, parsons, cherries (didn't breed them), painteds, pictorellas, chestnuts, stars) and some foreign finches (spice, cubans, jacarinis, cordon bleus, goldfinches, orange-breasts (didn't breed them). wrote a couple of articles for the 'australian aviculture' magazine back in the 80's. will probably be another couple of years before i'm a keeper again proper - have just bought a home in the mountains with room for an aviary. yay! but thought i'd start seeing what info/contacts are out there.
planning on building a 6m x 3m x 2m aviary, fully planted, and planning on keeping longtails (my king of finches) doublebars, redbrows and maybe diamonds.
looking forward to sharing my experiences and learning more.
