Hi All,
I have a pair of masked finches which look like they are going down for there third attempt this year. They are a young pair, but the first 2 clutches were infertile, I realise that with young birds sometimes it might take a while to get their act together, but at what point should I start thinking perhaps it might never be?
Have had a shocking run with masks this winter, had 2 pair and a spare hen, lost 2 hens so there is a spare cockbird in with them, was hoping that i could use the young from the remaining pair to build up again. Hopefully it will all work out.
Cheers,
fertility question

Having just had 2 seasons of nest after nest of infertile eggs from my Goulds beacause I have 2 hens
I would have to ask " do I have a pair ?" ...It happens

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Hard decision.Break up a pr that are having a go,but may or maynot get it together.Or change the cock bird and hope they can get it sorted.I would get another hen put her with the cock from the breeding pr and put a proven cock you already have with the hen you already have.Only after you have had a go at it for one season.Which would probley be three goes at it.IF you have no luck seperating them.Atleast they have had a break from breeding and can still be put back together.
