Whats the deference between Gouldians and Dilute Gouldians?

Dilute is a combining of the yellow (z) and green (z) chromosomes in a bird that has a purple chest (both the green and yellow chromosomes are sex linked) If you see a dilute you can be sure its a cock as hens cannot be dilutes.
Visually the dilute is a lighter shade because each of the green and yellow chromosomes are trying to express their colour but as neither can be fully expressed the colour of the bird is neither yellow nor green.
