Pretty cheap! Seems like a good size too.
Would Gouldians breed in this?

Personaly, i didnt like this size, when i first started with the gouldians i had 6 of those cages, it got very crowded after a few babies fledge the nest, plus they prefer to have most sides covered leaving the front open. u would also need to cut the wire in the corner to attach a nest box as the doors on the side are to low to accommodated a nest box, i got my new breeding cages from jjavairies here in melb, he sells his cages at a good price and will freight. or try ebay if your after the wire cages.

I have a couple of those cages and have had a pair of gouldians breed in them.
While I agree with Jarryd on the crowding after the young fledge its only for a couple of weeks till the young are independent. I was lucky that particular pair only had four young.
For the cover I used a towel and draped it over the cage so only the front was open, this came in handy during any hot weather as the towel could be moved back to allow for greater air flow.
I used paper over the wire floor.
There is the option of buying two and joining them together.

Just be careful as many of those type of cages have the bars just a little bit too far apart for finches. Small finches (OB's and Ruddies) and young chicks can get their heads and wings caught between the bars when they take fright. Most finch breeders get custom made fronts for around $12 - $25 (depending on size) that are made with the bars closer togther.cranberry wrote:Petmania have a larger one that is 76cm long and 46cm high. It's only $41 so I might have a look at those.
Those type of breeders are generally made for budgies etc.

I'm in 2 minds now. Petmania reckon they sell the 61cm cages to the "Save the Gouldian Fund". If that is the case, then I already have a couple of budgie breeding cages that are the same size (albeit a bit narrower at 30cm wide) and have the nest box already attached on the outside. Could I use these?
I guess I'm asking for opinions on what size breeding cage they need from someone who has actually bred a good number using this method?
This is the 61cm cage they say they sell to the Fund:
