snakes are beautiful creatures. i love even the poisonous ones!! :wtf:

this one is a water python, Liasis mackloti. i thought it might be an olive python (Liasis olivaceus) as well jay, but looked at my handy dandy reptile book and its a close relative, given away by the yellow belly, and it only grows to half the size. close relative though, they're the only 2 members of this genus here in Aus.

i imagine the floods will have a big impact on the ecosystems of the area, but nature is THE great adapter, and will bounce back eventually :)

We recently went for a scout along the river now the floods have died down and its amazing how clean the river bank is ...all the weeds and fallen trees have been washed away , theres a new layer of top soil and all the banks are bare with some grasses just coming through ...
Hopefully once the water is back to the normal level the weeds that have been choking the river to death will be gone too ...

Our floods though were nothing like what Qld is facing.
