Rather than tack this on to another topic I thought it warranted its own heading.
While information is still sketchy reports are now comming through.
Gary Fitt (Pres.QFS) has asked if anyone needs bird accom they have it available.
The big Finch collection South Of Ipswitch has come through with few losses but the set up and other areas are a mess.
It is hoped access by helpers to the property may be gained tomorrow.
The status of the other big collection(Johns) is still unknown.
Sadly one person had a collection of some 150 birds he now only has 8 left
Iguess there will be other sad reports but at this stage things are looking far better than was first thought.
That aside the carnage up there is virtually beyond belief,so many lives lost, other lives shattered lets hope in time they will recover.
Apparently the report in Europe about the size of the flood put it as the areas of France, Germany and the UK and this is quite acurate.

Im glad to hear there are some who will be able to help out the bird accommodation for those that need it.
I was up at 5am this morning to watch the dedicated Flood channel to see if Brisbane got any worse. I watched a tug push and pull a 300 meter length of concrete walkway that had broken away down the Brisbane River so that it didnt smash into the major bridges on the way down the river.E Orix wrote:That aside the carnage up there is virtually beyond belief,so many lives lost, other lives shattered lets hope in time they will recover.

I'm amazed at the extent of the waters across Brisbane and everywhere else. I guess the rainfall is evening out the 10 years of drought but who wants it in one go? An Indian colleage was commenting on the floods (24h coverage on Australia Network) and to put it in perspective he said you've lost 10 people and it's a tragedy but a similar flood in Mumbai (formerly Bombay, wher he comes from) would have killed millions! Thankfully we have the infastructure to cope and lack the poverty and population density. Perhaps it's a lesson for economists and demographers : more people for the sake of more people is not a prudent choice. I hope things get back to normal soon but for some their losses can never be resored and I'm not talking finches.
