Just a short story, On feeding the main aviary the other day I opened the access door and fed the greens, changed the seed etc as normal and reclosed the door. Then went to the zebra aviary and did the same, then went and fed and released the chickens. As i returned to look at the Zebras (who breed better than rabbits!). There was a Ghouldian on the outside of the aviary. On checking the main aviary, YES it was one of mine. It must have slipped past unnoticed when i was feeding. So i set a small cage with seed and water in the hope it would fly in, but kept spooking and flying away. Finally had a brain wave and propped open safety door to main aviary with seed and water inside. After a few hours went back down and there was my bird happily feeding and flying around safety cage section. Door closed, aviary opened and it rejoined its friends as if nothing had happened. so lessen learnt be more cautious.
Regards to all and thoughts go out to our Queensland bretheren.

I must be a bad bird keeper , Ive had 1 finch and 1 Scarlet fly the coop ... and they just kept on a flying and a flying onto greener pastures or into a Kurrawongs belly.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Mine are just too lazy to fly away i think, beside all their friends are behind the wire, with the daily food and drink.

I have had a few escape over the years, but am mostly particularly vigilant in checking the safety area before exiting. Especially since getting double bars who simply cant bear to let me in without exploring the extra space over my shoulder.
