I have 12 nest boxes in the aviary. All but 2 are the Mike Fidler type. I plan on building a couple of ball type nest stations out of hanging baskets with 4 or 5 entry holes in each. This should give the dominant pairs enough choices to leave the less dominant ones with what is left...I hope!

7 pairs in that aviary is ok as long as you have lots of boxes and plenty of perching. You will also need to remove young as they become independant or it will get really crowded quickly.
E Orix, I pair mine the same time each year and mine are well underway. I have my first clutch of 5 yellow backs 11 days old and 12 other pairs with eggs.

Even with the parrots here the only ones on eggs so far are the Kaks who shouldnt be breeding in Summer ...too much rain and no really hot days has these birds as Eorix said ON HOLIDAYS ...is all good though they are all in fantastic feather and very healthy so no complaints really.

Same here Diane. My girls all have red beaks still even though they are in fine feather. My hens look better this year than they did last year in terms of size and health so here's hoping for a more successful season than last year. This could be due to me now having a good supply of Johnson grass seed heads growing on the side of the water tank.
Funnily enough, my canaries are on their 4th clutch of eggs. They shouldn't be breeding now but like everyone is saying, the weather has played tricks on them this year.

The only thing Im doing different this year is putting Apple Cider Vinegar in the water a couple of times a week , dont know if the drinking or the bathing in it is making them shine but they sure look good .

The canary is on her 3rd nest here too. YH Gouldians looking ready to go. RH still finishing the moult. But who is looking in the nests? The dominant established RH pair.
