have been feeding frozen ants for over 18 months now . best thing ive done in 25 years of breeding finches. used to feed live ants but due to mines buying up all the properties i had access to. i now travel upto 1.5 hours each way to get ants . i knock the ants out and store in plastic food containers then store in freezer for up to 3 months. benefits are that you get 100% of the ants you collect , easier for others when they are looking after your birds , less time required in morning to feed, and most importantly the birds breed well, including melbas & auroras .
