rosella problem

the male and female would sit close to each other and they dont groom each other?
haydns female walks up and down a branch really fast why does she do this?
and at feeding time or when they go to feed they both would sit and eat but the male chases her away from the bird feeder?

Not all parrots groom each other Shanny so you might have to read up on them.If the hen is pacing up and down it would suggest she isnt very happy.Maybe she hasnt settled into your aviary very well.How big is the aviary ?

they don't have to groom each other all the time. they may not even like each other! as for running up and down, I agree with DB on this one. A minimum for rosellas would be 4m long x 3m wide.

pacing yep my guess she wants to stretch her wings , if the cage is too small come breeding time she is a chance of being seriously hurt by the male if she cant get away from him.
Have you ever seen a dog that has been penned for too long ? They literally go stir crazy and continually spin , the birds pacing is much the same .

Rosellas arent real lovey dovey birds so I would just give them time , once breeding season hits they will know what to do HOWEVER the pacing needs to addressed ASAP .

Also keep in mind birds in too small an enclosure may become over weight thus affecting breeding .

My best guess is that the Rosellas dont feel very comfortable.It sounds like they are looking out for whats coming next rather feeling relaxed and secure.How big is the aviary ? You already mentioned the hen was pacing up down and these things make me think that perhaps the aviary is too small.Its called stereotypical behaviour.Ever seen big cats at the zoo pacing up and down the enclosure.Some of this behaviour can be sheer boredom but in your case i dont think your birds feel safe.They may be better suited to an aviary that is about 3 to 4m long and one third being enclosed.

breeding or pet?
breeding maybe one or two budgie cabinet cages, or a small aviary maybe 1.5m square. pet, maybe a minimum size cage being 100cm x 70cm x 60cm?
