Sorry to hear about your loss Matcho yeah you do get really attached when you hand feed but think of satisfaction of how far you came to rearing this little bird. When I was hand raising a zebra finch I had people say why bother it's only a zebra but I wonder why people keep birds with that attitude. Good on you for trying.
