So I know what your going to say ...but here goes . My son and his g/friend rang me on Sunday with the " Can I have this dog Mum " my answer was no so they rang my partner to work on him and he gives in .
Sunday night they arrive home with a 2 year old Sausage Dog they got from a puppy mill . My answer was still no until I picked her up and the tears welled .
This little girl is so scared of everything , weighs 4 kilos instead of a normal 7 kilos . She bit my partner and Milly , was unable to urinate or move her bowels from lack of food .
Its now 2 days and she is turning into a little sweetheart SLOWLY she has put on weight already and the kids had her checked over and desexed this morning ( vets advice ) as her uterus was in a bad way .
Long long way to go but my beautiful little Milly ( my dog ) and the whole family are bringing her out of her shell . Ill put some pics up soon , right now she is sleeping off the anesthetic .
And the kids wont tell me who this person is , guess they know what Im like . Just makes me more determine to find them and ask how this came to be .
this dog would break anyone heart

You is a sucker. But then so am I. So good on you for being Super Deb to the rescue. And the people who do this to animals should be strung up by portions of their anotomy most likely to cause tremendous pain.

Deb, you have a heart of gold!
Just be careful to keep her lean- especially now that she's desexed. These guys are very prone to back problems which are made worse if they put on too much condition. Keep her lean- not thin- and avoid heartache and expensive vet bills.

Never been keen on the Dachs but I guess that just changed . Thanks for the tip about the back problems , makes sense with that exaggerated back bone .
She just wandered up the hallway and came to me for a hug ( and a toilet break ), thats progress already . Now I have to be extra nice to the 18 year old son so he doesn't leave home and take her with him
I kinda have fallen for the funny looking little girl.
Yes a mouse catcher will come in very handy .

Did ask the vet about that and he said too late to do anything now she is 2 .( calcium )
Found out more about her history ...she was an indoor pet for most of the time then the original owner gave her to this woman in Wellington who breeds Dachs , she was put outside with about 20 other dogs that picked on her which is why she is funny around dogs .
She had a litter of which none survived so was not useful to this woman .
The new owner didnt have time or $$$ to pander to her finicky eating so just let her tough it out in a pen outside .Doesnt expain her fear of people and certainly no excuse for her being so thin .
Anyhoo she is happy exploring today and comes up for a cuddle every now and then , i think she has been looked after as a pup and then just wasnt cute any more so hopefully she was fed a good diet .

Bubba ..washed out of nest in the floods.

My beautiful little pound puppy Milly ..

And Axle the wonder dog , alone after owner passed away ...
